Columbia Records und Legacy Recordings, die Katalogabteilung von Sony Music Entertainment, geben den Release der Bob-Dylan-Anthologie The Cutting Edge 1965-1966: The Bootleg Series Vol. 12 bekannt, die weltweit ab dem 6. November erhältlich sein wird.

Diese Veröffentlichung schlägt das neueste Kapitel der Bootleg-Series auf, die sich diesmal ganz auf die Aufnahmesessions zu Dylans Meisterwerken Bringing lt All Back Home, Highway 61 Revisited und Blonde On Blonde konzentriert. Mit diesen drei Alben veränderte Dylan maßgeblich die Geschichte der populären Musik und zementierte seinen Ruf als Songwriter und Performer der Sonderklasse, dem niemand in Sachen Originalität und Tiefgründigkeit das Wasser reichen konnte.

The Cutting Edge 1965-1966: The Bootleg Series Vol. 12 wird in folgenden Versionen erhältlich sein:

- Auf der 6 CDs umfassenden Deluxe-Edition sind unveröffentlichte Tracks, Outtakes, Probenmitschnitte und alternative Versionen der Studioaufnahmen dieser drei Alben versammelt.

- Die 18 CDs umfassende und weltweit auf 5000 Einheiten limitierte Collector's Edition wird exklusiv über die Website BobDylan.com erhältlich sein. Hier findet der Fan buchstäblich jede Note, die während der 1965/66er Sessions auf Tape gebannt wurde. Zusätzlich erhält diese Box die neun 7-Inch-Singles, die Dylan während dieser Schaffensphase auf den Markt brachte, als Replica- Editionen.

- The Best of The Cutting Edge 1965-1966 wird als Doppel-CD und Dreifach-LP erhältlich sein. Diese Version der Bootleg Series Vol. 12 präsentiert die Highlights der Deluxe Version und der Collector's Edition.

Sämtliche bislang unveröffentlichten Aufnahmen wurden anhand der Original-Mehrspurbänder abgemischt. Zudem sind alle Varianten, wie schon bei den früheren Folgen der Bootleg Series üblich, mit ausführlichen Booklets (bei den Deluxe-Varianten als Hardcover-Buchausgabe) ausgestattet. Liner Notes u.a. von Bill Flanagan und Sean Wilentz und Hunderte von seltenen Fotos und Abbildungen zeitgenössischer Memorabilia runden die Sets ab.

Bringing lt All Back Home, Highway 61 Revisited und die Doppel-LP Blonde On Blonde zählen zu den wichtigsten Alben der 1960er. Dylan benötigte nur 14 Monate (Januar 1965 bis März 1966), um die Songs, die auf diesen Meisterwerken zu hören sind, zu schreiben und einzuspielen. Produziert wurden die Longplayer von Tom Wilson in New York (Bringing lt All Back Home) und von Bob Johnston in New York (Highway 61 Revisited) und Nashville (Blonde On Blonde).
