Im Jahr 1970 durften sich die Elvis Presley-Fans über zwei Großereignisse freuen: Mit "That's The Way It Is" wurde ein neues Album ihres Idols veröffentlicht, und im Kino war der King in einer gleichnamigen Konzert-Dokumentation in Spielfilmlänge zu bewundern. Am 1. August erscheint bei Columbia/Legacy Recordings, der Katalogabteilung von Sony Music Entertainment, "That's The Way It Is" neu als 2 CD-Version und als hochwertiges 8CD + 2DVD Deluxe Box Set.

Die Original LP-Version von "That's The Way It Is" wurde im November 1970 veröffentlicht. Das Album enthielt acht in Nashville produzierte Songs sowie vier Livemitschnitte, die 1970 während Elvis' "Summer Festival"-Engagement in Las Vegas entstanden. Darunter auch interessante Coverversionen von Dusty Springfields "You Don't Have To Say You Love Me", "You've Lost That Lovin' Feelin'" (Righteous Brothers) und eine atemberaubende Interpretation von Simon & Garfunkels "Bridge Over Troubled Water".

Der All Music Guide nannte die "Summer Festival"-Showreihe ". eine der besten, die Elvis je auf die Bühne brachte ..." und lobte, dass "diese Aufnahmen für jeden Elvis-Fan ein absolutes Muss darstellen." CD2 der neuen Legacy Edition bietet die komplette "Dinner Show" vom 12. August 1970 mit vielen unveröffentlichten Titeln.

Die 8 CD+2DVD Deluxe-Box "That's The Way It Is" bietet zum ersten Mal überhaupt das Original-Album und den 1970er MGM-Dokumentarfilm in einem Set. Der Film liegt dem Boxset in zwei Versionen bei, in der Original-Kinofassung sowie der geschnittenen DVD-Version aus dem Jahr 2000. In der Box sind auch die sechs Elvis-Shows in voller Länge zu hören, die für den Dokumentarfilm von MGM mitgeschnitten und teilweise gefilmt wurden. Weiterhin enthält die Deluxe Edition ein 80-seitiges Booklet mit seltenen Fotos, Memorabilia und Infos zu den Aufnahmen.
